Here's What's Happening
Well, my 2nd young adult novel is due to be released from Flux in the fall of 2008, and now has an official title, Remember This. It's the story of 15-year-old Lucy Kellogg and the summer her beloved grandmother and namesake, Nana Lucy, develops dementia and comes to stay with the Kellogg family. Even before Nana Lucy's arrival, Lucy's summer has already becoming complicated: her relationship with her best friend, Sukie Hollister, has been strained ever since Sukie made cheerleading and Lucy didn't, and to make matters worse, the hot new dishwasher at the restaurant where Lucy works has turned out to be none other than Sukie's arch-enemy, He Who Shall Not Be Named. How will Lucy balance friendship, loyalty, and physical attraction while coping with the roller-coaster of living with this new version of Nana Lucy?
I'll be visiting Mrs. Johnson's seventh grade literature class at Schroeder Middle School next week to regale them with tales of writing, editing, and publishing. Mrs. Johnson asked that I be sure to emphasize the editing process, a topic on which I feel I'm now an export given my recent travels through The Land of Revisions. (aka Hell)
On Friday I've been asked to be part of a big Barnes and Noble book signing for to kick off their holiday season, since The Other Sister has been 'very popular' according to the gal who called me from B&N. Very exciting!
Stay tuned for more dates, times, and places! As always, if I'm in the vicinity, I'd be glad to visit your local bookstore, bookclub meetings, or other events for reading, signing, and/or Q&A. Any requests can be directed to me or to my publicist, Brian Farrey at Flux (brianf@llewellyn.com). And thanks to everyone for your wonderful reviews, emails, and comments! I love hearing from you!
